Looking for a spontaneous escape full of nature, charm, and photo-worthy moments? Our recent Victoria BC travel photography adventure delivered all that and more. From June 26 to July 1, we swapped Toronto’s cityscape for the coastal calm of Victoria, capturing whales, gardens, downtown charm, and serene resort life—all through the lens of candid travel storytelling.

Two Perfectly Balanced Stays
We split our time between two incredible resorts that offered totally different vibes—both of which I’d recommend if you’re planning your own Victoria getaway.
Brentwood Bay Resort (2 nights) gave us that peaceful West Coast retreat feel. Tucked away from the bustle, we enjoyed kayaking right from the dock and soaking in views of the bay.
Then, from Friday through Tuesday, we stayed at the Westin Bear Mountain Resort, nestled in the hills above the city. It was the perfect base to relax and recharge—especially with time spent by the pool, enjoying the mountain air and slower pace.

The Whale Tour: Awe and Motion
Without question, the highlight of the trip was our whale watching tour with Eagle Wing Tours. We were lucky enough to spot orcas and humpbacks—and despite the challenges of shooting on a moving boat with constantly shifting subjects, it was one of the most inspiring experiences I’ve ever tried to capture.
I brought along my Sony ZV-1 and iPhone 15 Plus, which turned out to be a solid travel combo. Lightweight, easy to carry around all day, and great for candid shooting. While I didn’t go into the trip with a content plan, the beauty of Victoria made it easy to stay in the creative flow.
Until Next Time, Victoria
This trip was exactly what we needed—a mix of new experiences, time in nature, a touch of luxury, and space to create without pressure. Whether you’re planning a photography-based trip, a wellness reset, or just want to experience the unique charm of Victoria, I can’t recommend it enough.
