When Leanna and Ben reached out about their engagement photos, they had one request — their sweet black Lab, Belle, had to be part of the session. As an Ontario engagement photographer, I love when couples bring their pets along. Not only does it make the shoot feel more personal, but it also adds an extra layer of joy and authenticity to the images.
We met in Ingersoll, Ontario on a warm summer afternoon. The tree-lined trail we chose was glowing with sunlight filtering through lush green leaves, creating the perfect romantic backdrop. Belle trotted happily along the path, occasionally glancing back to make sure her humans were keeping up.
Leanna looked stunning in a flowing ivory sundress, which caught the light beautifully every time she moved. Ben kept it relaxed in a teal button-up and sneakers — a perfect match for the casual, nature-filled vibe we were going for.
One of my favourite moments was when Ben twirled Leanna in the middle of the path. Her smile was radiant, Belle’s tail was wagging, and the sunlight danced around them — it was one of those perfectly unplanned moments that tells a story without words.
Of course, we had to capture the engagement ring. Nestled against Ben’s shoulder, Leanna’s hand — complete with a delicate manicure — showed off the sparkle of her diamond. These little details are what make an engagement session truly yours.
What I love about photographing couples all across Ontario is that no two sessions are ever the same. Whether it’s a forest trail in Ingersoll, a waterfront park in Toronto, or a golden field in rural Ontario, each location brings its own magic. Adding your dog into the mix? That’s the recipe for photos you’ll cherish for years to come.
