Deciding on the perfect camera and lenses can be a tricky process with so many options to choose from—Canon, Nikon, Sony, Olympus. In this post, I’ll walk you through the gear I use and why I love it!
Camera Body: Nikon D610
My main camera body is the Nikon D610. This camera features a 24.3 megapixel sensor and an FX sensor, meaning you can use any Nikon FX-supported lenses. It comes with two SD card slots, ensuring you’ll always have space for your photos and videos. I love the 6 frames per second continuous shooting feature, making it great for action and sports photography. The ISO range is impressive, starting at ISO 100 and going up to ISO 6400, with an expanded ISO of 25,000 for low-light situations. While it’s good for video, it doesn’t do slow motion—just 60 frames per second at 1280×720.
Lenses I Use for Photography
I currently use three lenses with my Nikon body:
- Nikon 24-85mm
- Nikon 50mm
- Sigma 105mm 2.8 Macro
24-85mm Lens:
I use the 24-85mm for architecture and landscape photography, as it offers a wide angle to capture large scenes. The aperture reaches f/3.5, so it’s not ideal for portrait photography with bokeh.
50mm Lens:
The 50mm is one of my favorite lenses, great for portraits, low-light situations, and beautiful bokeh. With an aperture of f/1.8, it allows for sharp, stunning portraits. While the focus distance is a bit far, it’s worth it for the sharpness and light sensitivity it offers.
Sigma 105mm 2.8 Macro Lens:
My newest addition is the Sigma 105mm 2.8 Macro lens, and I absolutely LOVE it! This macro lens is perfect for capturing sharp, close-up shots of jewelry, flowers, and even eyes. With a 1:1 reproduction rate, the image on the sensor is the actual size, allowing you to get incredibly close with great depth of field. I’ve used this lens extensively in school for product photography and portraits, and it never disappoints.
Conclusion:
These are the essential camera body and lenses I use for both photography and videography.
